Strengthening Industry-Academia Connections: CJCU Department of International Business Visits ICC Tainan
May 28, 2026
To deepen students’ understanding of the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry and reinforce industry-academia links, over 30 faculty members and students from the Department of International Business at Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) visited ICC Tainan. Department Chair Dr. Li-Min Chuang noted that the participating group included international students from France, India, and Nigeria. Through cross-national exchanges and onsite observation, students gained deep insights into the current development and smart innovation applications of Taiwan’s MICE industry while broadening their global perspectives.
Spanning an area of 5.2 hectares, ICC Tainan features an indoor exhibition hall covering 10,692 square meters. The column-free space can accommodate up to 600 standard exhibition booths and hold up to 5,000 guests. The conference hall includes one 1,000-person conference room, one 750-person conference room, five 100-person meeting rooms, and three 30-person meeting rooms, suitable for various business events. Situated in the Shalun Smart Green Energy Science City, the convention center incorporates low-carbon green energy designs, positioning itself as a green, smart exhibition venue.
Since opening on April 21, 2022, ICC Tainan has provided comprehensive MICE tourism services—ranging from venue planning, facility configuration, event management, and technical support to catering services—tailored to client needs with end-to-end support from preparation to execution. Equipped with advanced 5G network infrastructure, simultaneous interpretation booths, audio, lighting, and air conditioning systems, it delivers optimal service experiences for diverse events.
The visiting delegation was led by Department Chair Dr. Li-Min Chuang and Professor Yi-Hui Ho. In addition to local students, the team included international students from France, India, and Nigeria, creating a vibrant multicultural learning atmosphere. The visit was jointly hosted by the Taiwan Exhibition & Conference Association (TECA), GIS Group, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ MEET TAIWAN Project Office.
During the venue tour, Peggy Yang, Business Marketing Manager at ICC Tainan, introduced smart technology applications, comprehensive infrastructure, and sustainable management concepts, helping students form a concrete understanding of modern MICE operations. Subsequently, MEET TAIWAN Director Chiong-Ting Liu and Project Manager Min-Wei Chuang delivered presentations on global MICE industry trends, while the GIS Group team shared practical experiences to help students grasp industry dynamics and required professional skills.
Regarding career development, the Human Resources Department of GIS Group introduced corporate operations and job openings. Through a “Talent Pitch” session and interactive dialogue, students engaged directly with industry professionals to enhance their future employment competitiveness. Professor Yi-Hui Ho remarked that the MICE industry serves as a crucial platform for international enterprises to promote brand marketing and business expansion. This visit allowed both local and international students to deepen their understanding of Taiwan’s industrial landscape, fostering industry-academia dialogue and international talent exchange.
