The Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA), joining hands with the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW), and the Tainan City Government, co-organized the “Greater South AI Smart Health Expo,” which opens on the 12th and 13th at ICC Tainan. Gathering over 100 vendors and displaying more than 120 AI smart health applications, the event is estimated to create over NT$100 million in potential business opportunities through achievement displays and business matchmaking.

Premier Cho Jung-tai attended yesterday to preside over the opening ceremony, pointing out that the “Greater South AI Smart Health Expo” showcases Taiwan’s innovative achievements in the smart health field, concretely implementing President Lai Ching-te’s policy vision of promoting “Healthy Taiwan” and “Equitable Taiwan.”

Premier Cho mentioned that the government is actively promoting the standardization and establishment of electronic medical records (EMR) and medical data, expecting to complete the EMR system implementation for medical centers this year, expand to regional and local hospitals next year, and reach primary care clinics and public health centers the year after next, reducing duplicate examinations and medical costs while simplifying administrative burdens of various medical tests for healthcare personnel through medical information interoperability.

Minister of Digital Affairs Lin Yi-jing stated that Taiwan faces major challenges of declining birthrates, population aging, and the rapid development of AI. The goal of matching every job with a worker and finding a job for everyone lies in combining AI with the healthcare industry. MODA is supporting the industry through five strategic tools: “computing power, capital, talent, data, and marketing,” expecting that through this exhibition, exhibitors will secure large and continuous orders.

This exhibition gathers five main themes: “Smart Peaceful Residence, Tech New Banyan Village, Cloud Clinic Court, Industry Empowerment Port, and Health New Bazaar,” with many achievements already implemented in hospital settings. The NSTC noted that in the future, it will accelerate the deployment and diffusion of smart health services, allowing Southern Taiwan to be not only a semiconductor stronghold, but also leap onto the world stage of AI smart health innovation.

Cho Jung-tai also inspected the Houbi Flower Innovation Park and the Xinying Sugar Refinery yesterday, promising to approve the construction of Phase 2 plant facilities at the Flower Innovation Park, hoping that after Taiwan-US tariff issues settle, the world will see Taiwan’s strength in orchids alongside chips.

The Tainan City Government and Taiwan Sugar Corporation jointly plan to resume operation of the sugar railway’s narrow-gauge trains to connect settlements along a 15.75-kilometer route, while also designating a commercial and entertainment zone inside the Xinying Sugar Refinery to attract German vendors—hailed as the “Disneyland of the Agricultural World”—to join investment recruitment. Premier Cho expressed that a city cannot rely solely on the tech industry, promising to first allocate NT$15 million in planning fees.
