The 48th Annual Convention (2025–2026) of Lions Clubs International District 300E-1 was grandly held on April 11 at ICC Tainan. Featuring a wide-ranging agenda, the grand event hosted a donation ceremony for nine social service vehicles and welcomed a delegation of approximately 30 Lions led by District Governor Kim Nam-hyung from Sister District 354-C in South Korea, celebrating 41 years of reciprocal visits. The convention also featured 85 booths showcasing Tainan’s local delicacies and native products, while the evening banquet, “Lions Night,” hosted 360 tables, attracting over 3,500 participants.

 

District Governor Huang Yu-chou stated that this convention highlights District 300E-1’s long-term commitment to community service. The donation ceremony presented nine service vehicles—including food delivery trucks, community service vans, transport vehicles, disaster reconnaissance vehicles, and animal rescue vans—to social welfare groups, schools, firefighting units, and animal protection organizations. This gesture embodies the Lions’ spirit of giving back to society and empowering vulnerable groups.

 

Key dignitaries cutting the ribbon together included District Governor Huang Yu-chou, LCIF Trustee Chiang Ta-long, District 300E Council Chairperson Cheng Yu-chu, South Korea District 354-C Governor Kim Nam-hyung, and Convention Organizing Committee Chairman Tsai Rui-nong, alongside various representatives from donating clubs and beneficiary organizations.

 

District Governor Huang noted that District 300E-1 and South Korea’s District 354-C have maintained reciprocal visits since establishing sister ties in 1985. Over the past 41 years, this partnership has not only deepened friendship among Lions members but has also served as a vital bridge for non-governmental diplomacy between Taiwan and South Korea.

 

Tsai Rui-nong, Chairman of the Convention Organizing Committee, shared that choosing ICC Tainan provided a spacious and well-equipped venue. The committee designed a red-carpet entry to welcome guests and executives with honor, fostering camaraderie and a strong sense of pride. In addition, the event celebrated Tainan’s culture with 85 booths selling local specialties and a traditional banquet featuring 360 tables with simultaneous raffle draws across 11 zones.

 

Governor Huang further highlighted that District 300E-1 currently comprises 96 chartered clubs and 3,508 members. This fiscal year, over 1,000 individual donations of US$1,000 were raised for the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF). Additionally, matching grants combined with local funds totaled US$172,000 to support service projects across Yunlin, Chiayi, and Tainan.

 

Throughout the year, District 300E-1 carried out extensive relief and service initiatives, including US$15,000 in LCIF emergency grant relief following Typhoon Danas, distributing 3,750 emergency supply packages, providing temporary tarps for 80 low-income households, and completing roof repairs and modular homes for 31 families across Tainan’s affected districts.

 

Furthermore, the district organized diverse community initiatives spanning childhood cancer awareness, hunger relief, environmental restoration, diabetes prevention, vision screening, disaster preparedness, youth cultural exchanges with Malaysia, anti-drunk driving campaigns, elderly care, artistic performances, and anti-drug and anti-fraud advocacy.

 

Demonstrating the spirit of “giving back to the community,” Lions Clubs International District 300E-1 successfully hosted this memorable annual convention, honoring past achievements while looking forward to a bright future of service.
