Asia-Pacific Agri-Tech Expo Launches in Tainan; Mayor Huang Wei-che Visits Tainan Smart Agriculture Pavilion to Exchange Tech Capabilities with Enterprises
May 06, 2026
The “2026 Asia-Pacific Agri-Tech Expo & Forum” opened today (6th) at ICC Tainan. This year, the Tainan City Government specially created the “Tainan Smart Agriculture Pavilion,” gathering top local agricultural technology enterprises and attracting numerous domestic and international buyers and professionals. Mayor Huang Wei-che personally toured the venue to gain deep insights into various exhibits and discuss industry prospects with businesses, demonstrating the city government’s high regard for smart agricultural development.
Huang Wei-che stated that as a key agricultural hub in Taiwan, Tainan possesses strong technological capacity as its backbone. By introducing advanced technology and green energy into agricultural sites, it can assist farmers in continuously harvesting high-quality agricultural products when facing extreme climate challenges. He emphasized that Tainan’s smart agriculture is not only rooted locally, but also possesses the strength to export this Tainan experience globally.
Regarding the possibility of the exhibition moving to other cities in the future, Huang Wei-che suggested that Southern Taiwan is the core region of Taiwan’s agriculture with the most complete industrial cluster. He expressed hope that the Asia-Pacific Agri-Tech Expo can continue to be held in Tainan, allowing production sites and technology to be tightly linked to maximize industrial cluster benefits.
The Agriculture Bureau pointed out that through the joint efforts of industry, government, academia, and research sectors, Tainan has built a comprehensive smart agriculture ecosystem. The city government actively promotes consistent mechanization in agricultural production combined with cold-chain logistics technology, effectively filling labor gaps and raising agricultural quality; at the same time, AIoT technology is utilized to create a three-in-one smart platform integrating “communication, IoT, and situation management” to achieve data-driven and systematic agricultural management. In addition, the pioneered “Agri-Fly” reservation mechanism applies drones to agricultural execution and disaster damage assessment, becoming an essential tool in field operations and further driving traditional rural areas toward a smart circular economy transformation.
This time, the “Tainan Smart Agriculture Pavilion” showcases seven cross-domain technology highlights, covering agriculture-specific drones, AIoT smart situation management, nano plant protection, aquaculture immune protection, data-driven agricultural supply chains, fishery-electricity symbiosis practices, and agricultural energy storage microgrids. Representative participating enterprises include Tian-Yang / Taijiang Agricultural Biotechnology, Guang Tian Yi, Digifarmer, Aerospace Technology, Yuan Kang Green Energy, FishRay Biotechnology, and Charcoal Science. On-site displays of multiple mature application models and innovative supplies demonstrate strong capabilities to connect with international markets.
The Tainan City Government stated that the “2026 Asia-Pacific Agri-Tech Expo & Forum” will continue through May 8. Domestic and international buyers, industry partners, and the public are cordially invited to seize the opportunity during the exhibition period to visit ICC Tainan and personally experience the innovative momentum and diverse business opportunities injected into agriculture by technology.
