2026 Tainan Plastics & Rubber Industrial Show Debuts: Mayor Huang Aims to Spark Global Industry Collaboration
Mar 18, 2026
The 2026 Tainan Plastics & Rubber Industrial Show (Tainan PLAS) officially opened today (March 18) at ICC Tainan. Tainan City Mayor Huang Wei-cher attended the grand opening ceremony and toured the exhibition to engage with participants. This year’s event features over 90 exhibitors across 260 booths, complemented by industrial forums, exchange sessions, and international online matchmaking events. Mayor Huang emphasized his hope that this platform will foster industrial marketing, exchange, and new market opportunities.
During his keynote, Mayor Huang highlighted the critical role of the petrochemical industry, noting that it produces not only essential raw materials but also energy for power generation. Referencing NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang’s “Five-Layer AI Cake” theory from the recent GTC (GPU Technology Conference), the Mayor stressed that energy is the foundation of power, power drives computing, and computing capacity is a direct measure of national strength. He underscored that the petrochemical industry remains an indispensable resource for Taiwan’s energy supply.
Furthermore, Mayor Huang pointed out that the plastics and rubber industries are deeply intertwined with daily life—from food and clothing to housing and transportation. Advancements in these manufacturing sectors directly benefit humanity. He expressed his desire for the exhibition to serve as a hub where domestic and international professionals can exchange ideas, spark innovation, and showcase Taiwan’s industrial prowess to the world.
According to the Bureau of Economic Development, Tainan is home to approximately 1,200 plastics and rubber manufacturers with an annual output value exceeding NT$67 billion. These industries are the bedrock of Taiwan’s manufacturing sector, supporting everything from consumer goods and electronic components to automotive, medical, and high-end industrial applications. To help local firms connect with global markets, the event has organized more than 10 international online matchmaking sessions with global buyers.
Chang Ting-yuan, Director-General of the Bureau of Economic Development, noted that the exhibition is divided into five specialized zones: Processing Machinery & Equipment, Molds & Components, Raw Materials & Products, Peripheral Accessories, and Associations. This layout provides a comprehensive “one-stop” view of the upstream, midstream, and downstream supply chain, with a particular focus on ESG applications within the industry. The program also includes two forums on sustainable development and three corporate sharing sessions featuring industry experts.
The 2026 Tainan Plastics & Rubber Industrial Show runs from today until March 21 at ICC Tainan. Admission is free, with doors open daily from 10:00 to 17:00 (closing at 16:00 on the final day). Visitors who check in on-site have the chance to win daily prizes, with a grand prize draw for an iPhone 17 on the final day.
