To strengthen national maritime security and drive the upgrade of the ocean industry, the inaugural “Marine Technology & Autonomous Systems Taiwan (MATURE Taiwan),” guided jointly by the Ocean Affairs Council (OAC) and the International Trade Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and organized by the Underwater Noise Association, will grandly open from November 3 to 5, 2026, at ICC Tainan, with dockside dynamic demonstrations taking the lead on November 2. Positioned as Taiwan’s only B2B professional exhibition focusing on marine technology and land-sea-air autonomous systems, this grand event is expected to become a crucial hub for Taiwan to connect with international markets.

As the guiding agency of this exhibition, the Ocean Affairs Council stated that it has vigorously promoted marine technology R&D in recent years. Since the implementation of the “Ocean Industry Development Act,” the OAC launched the “Marine Technology Grant Program” in 2024. Over the past three years, more than 80 projects have been approved with a total investment of NT$185 million, actively fostering R&D in autonomous vehicle data collection, AI big data analysis, and novel marine monitoring systems. In this exhibition, the OAC will also set up a special “Ocean Science Pavilion” to personally present to all sectors the fruitful achievements of ocean policies and the latest implemented scientific research.

The Ocean Affairs Council added that facing rapid shifts in the global supply chain, this exhibition covers a scale of 6,000 square meters, attracting over 125 domestic and international exhibitors, with participation from more than 10 countries including the US, UK, Denmark, and Australia. Key domestic manufacturers are actively investing in the R&D of dual-use (military-civilian) and peace-to-war convertible autonomous systems, demonstrating Taiwan’s robust defense autonomy in customized development: including “CSBC Corporation” launching the “Effort Devil Ray” trimaran autonomous surface vessel (USV) with stealth appearance and AI recognition capabilities, which can be flexibly applied to asymmetric warfare, port safety inspection, and offshore wind survey; “Liquid Acoustics” displaying the Asia-Pacific region’s first dual-use remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) for mine countermeasures and passive sonar systems, covering anti-submarine monitoring and marine ecosystem noise monitoring; and “Carbon-Based Technology” publishing a 6-meter USV equipped with fully autonomous navigation and AI swarm control technology, which will further integrate with unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems in the future to achieve “sea-air collaborative” cross-platform operations and long-range intelligence surveillance.

At the same time, domestic academic hubs also demonstrate fruitful marine scientific research strength: including National Cheng Kung University combining autonomous vehicle R&D to exhibit over 30 years of achievements in marine conservation and cetacean rescue, including skeletal specimens and 3D printing exhibits, continuously advocating ecological sustainability; National Sun Yat-sen University focusing on advanced underwater exploration technology, exhibiting a deep-sea towed vehicle that set a record dive depth of 2,630 meters underwater, whose mature technology has been widely supporting natural gas exploration, submarine volcano exploration, and offshore wind farm seabed surveys, providing key technical support for Taiwan’s energy development, geological monitoring, and ocean industry upgrade, and related technologies will continue to be promoted for commercial applications.

In addition to static displays, 8 professional forums covering themes such as marine sustainability, offshore engineering, UAVs, and military applications will be held during the exhibition, inviting domestic and international experts to exchange insights. Furthermore, on November 2, a dockside demonstration will be held at the Formosa Yacht Hotel marina in Tainan City, allowing over 20 manufacturers to operate autonomous boats, underwater vehicles, and marine technology equipment on-site.
