Built with over NT$2 billion in full central government funding, the International Convention Center Tainan (ICC Tainan) was envisioned as a key driver for green industries and economic development in the Greater Tainan area. Mayor Huang Wei-che placed great emphasis on construction quality from the very beginning, stressing that this vital infrastructure would serve as a gateway for Tainan’s economic growth and international visibility. He mandated that the project meet international standards.

 

Now completed, ICC Tainan has lived up to its mission, earning multiple prestigious accolades, including the 21st Executive Yuan Public Construction Golden Quality Award, the Special Award for Planning and Design at the 2019 National Golden Award for Architecture, and the 2021 Tainan City Government Excellence Award (First Prize).

 

Impressed by ICC Tainan’s achievements, the Taichung City Government’s Construction Bureau—currently overseeing the construction of the Taichung International Exhibition Center—recently sent a delegation led by Deputy Director Chen Yung-Hsin to visit and learn from Tainan’s experience. The group was warmly received by Deputy Director Wang Chien-Hsiung of the Tainan City Government Public Works Bureau.

 

During the visit, the delegation toured ICC Tainan and expressed admiration for its interior design, capturing images and insights throughout. In the subsequent meeting, they engaged in in-depth discussions on various technical aspects—such as the installation of the 81-meter steel truss span, leak-proof roofing solutions, and energy-efficient HVAC system design. The Public Works Bureau’s team provided detailed explanations and shared valuable technical experience.

 

The two-hour exchange proved highly fruitful, leaving the visiting delegation impressed and inspired by ICC Tainan’s exemplary development journey.
