“2026 Balance Taiwan Week” opened today at ICC Tainan in Guiren, Tainan. For three consecutive days, leaders from central government ministries, southern county and city governments, as well as industry and academia gathered together. In addition to international forums, various units demonstrated achievements, witnessing Taiwan’s balanced transformation. On site, the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) exhibited a 1:2 scale physical model of an orbital rocket measuring approximately 13 meters long alongside key components, allowing the public to understand the practical applications of space technology in fields such as communications and navigation up close.

 

The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) Pavilion takes “Equitable Economy” as its main theme, building a one-stop platform on site that integrates policy display, achievement experience, business matchmaking, and interactive exchange. It comprehensively showcases the concrete results of the MOEA in driving industrial upgrades, net-zero transformation, and balanced development in Taiwan, encouraging the government, industry, and the public to co-create a sustainable future.

 

The Local Revitalization Zone uses “Island of Revitalization, Succession of Generations” as its core motif, setting up a dedicated “Revitalization Theater”; the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Zone centers on the theme “Island of Innovation, Entrepreneurship in Bloom” to create the “Blooming Theater,” fully presenting Taiwan’s endless innovative momentum.

 

The politically and commercially influential “Yi-Tsai Club” also established a dedicated pavilion composed of well-known enterprises including Brightcorp, MJ Group, BizLink, Fu Chun Shin, KMC, Poya, Tainan Enterprises, and Solar Applied Materials, exhibiting ESG achievements and related technologies. On the 17th, a rare ESG practice sharing session jointly formed by listed companies will be held, welcoming enterprises and startup groups to learn from their experience.

 

The NSTC, the Taiwan Space Agency (TASA), Dayeh University, and the National Nanke International Experimental High School co-created the thematic pavilion “Future Orbit—From Space Exploration to Sustainable Living,” inviting student teams such as “CC Rocket” to share rocket competition results while displaying interactive robot experiences, microalgae power generation, and other sustainable technology solutions.

 

On the afternoon of the first day, the “CHO Forum,” echoed by the semiconductor industry, was held, inviting senior executives from multinational enterprises such as Merck Performance Materials, ASML Taiwan, and The Adecco Group to analyze talent sustainability strategies in the AI era, highlighting the ambition of international tech giants to connect resources with local talent.

 

On the 17th, two “National-Level Forums” will be held. In the morning, the “Equitable Taiwan Forum” invited Deputy Minister of the National Development Council Peng Li-pei, Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che, Yunlin County Vice Magistrate Chen Pi-chun, Adjunct Professor-Level Expert Chao Cheng-yi from NCKU’s Department of Urban Planning, and British speaker Phil Ryan to explore from an international perspective how the Greater South can transform traditional industries and technological advantages into regional capital that attracts global investment.

 

In the afternoon, the “Capital Revitalization Forum” features E.SUN Financial Holding Chief Sustainability Officer Chang Lun-yu, Sinyi Realty Advisor Yang Pai-chuan, and KPMG Managing Director Huang Cheng-chung discussing key factors in ESG transformation, sharing how to provide substantive business empowerment to local revitalization or startup teams.

 

ICC Tainan Chairman Jason Yeh stated that this exhibition received strong support from Tainan City and central ministries, as well as support from county and city leaders of Yunlin and Chiayi, symbolizing that a balanced Taiwan is starting from the south.

 

Political Deputy Minister of Environment Hsieh Yenh-ru, in addition to explaining that “charging carbon fees” aims to drive industrial carbon reduction, praised President Lai for his “comprehensive governance” during his tenure as Tainan Mayor, noting that he not only valued infrastructure construction but also devoted full efforts to environmental protection.

 

Huang Wei-che stated that development between northern and southern Taiwan has gradually balanced, and various demographic groups are gradually integrating. The simultaneous development of traditional industries and high technology in Tainan presents no conflict, while also being environmentally friendly, leading to pollution improvements and an increasing number of beautiful clear skies.
