Lions Clubs International District 300E-1 2024–2025 Annual Convention 10 Social Service Vehicles Donated; Over 3,500 Lions Members in Attendance.

The Lions Clubs International District 300E-1 2024–2025 Annual Convention took place today (30th) at ICC Tainan, featuring a grand donation ceremony of 10 social service vehicles. A delegation from Sister District 354-C of South Korea, led by District Governor Kim Jae-Hong, also joined the event, continuing a 40-year tradition of mutual visits and friendship.
The evening banquet featured an exciting lucky draw, with 20 TVs and 110 rice cookers as top prizes. The event drew a crowd of over 3,500 Lions members.
District Governor Tseng Peng-Ying emphasized that this year’s convention demonstrates the Lions’ strong commitment to social service. The donated vehicles were presented to various charitable organizations including:
- Eden Social Welfare Foundation (from District 300E-1 and Guiren Lions Club)
- Bethlehem Foundation (from Region V)
- Anda Foundation (from Chiayi Lions Club)
- Michael Social Welfare Association (from Youlian Lions Club)
- Tainan Kangning Care Center (from Nanfeng Lions Club)
- Tainan City Government (from Xinfeng and Jinding Lions Clubs)
- Xiuyuan Orphanage (from Lantan Lions Club)
- Yunlin Home Care Association (from Formosa Long-Term Care & Aromatherapy Lions Club)
The ribbon-cutting ceremony featured numerous distinguished guests including International Director Chen Feng-Chi, International Foundation Trustee Chiang Da-Lung, Past International Director Lin Chi-Kuo, Governor Kim Jae-Hong (354-C, Korea), Convention Chair Wang Yi-Lang, and presidents from various local Lions Clubs involved in the donations.
Governor Tseng also highlighted the deep and lasting friendship with District 354-C of Korea, which has remained active since the two districts became sister chapters in 1985.
Convention Chair Wang Yi-Lang shared that ICC Tainan was chosen for its spacious layout, bright lighting, and complete facilities. The lobby was transformed into a red-carpet “Walk of Fame” to welcome Lions members and guests like celebrities.
Local Tainan specialties such as tea eggs, sweet potatoes, steamed buns, and coffee were provided free of charge. The banquet was hosted in the exhibition hall with 300 tables, and the lucky draw was conducted across 10 regions simultaneously to increase winners’ chances.
Governor Tseng reported that District 300E-1 currently consists of 96 clubs and 3,539 members, and has donated US$1,088,000 to Lions Clubs International Foundation this year—ranking No.1 globally.
He also detailed the district’s achievements in five major service areas:
1. Childhood Cancer Awareness
Campaigns such as “Understanding Childhood Cancer, Embracing the Future” were held at:
- Nanyang Elementary (Yunlin, Sept. 5, 437 participants)
- Madou Elementary (Sept. 24, 564 participants)
- Xingjia Elementary (Chiayi, Oct. 17, 626 participants)
- Daqiao Junior High (Tainan, Oct. 28, 700 participants, co-hosted with anti-drug committee)
- A special art therapy event with artist Shio was held Nov. 9 in Liuqiu Library
- On Dec. 5, a combined art exhibition and wheelchair donation press conference was held at CMU Beigang Hospital
- On Jan. 15, an outreach event was hosted at Beigang High School with 878 participants
2. Diabetes Awareness and Action
Health education events titled “Enjoy Life, Take Control, Live in Color!” were held across the region, drawing hundreds of attendees and offering consultations and screenings.
3. Vision Care Services
Under the theme “Lions with Love, A New Vision,” screenings were held at schools and community centers including Zhongpu Elementary, Kouhu Preschool, Shanshang Community Center, and Yongkang Elementary—serving over 1,000 people.
4. Hunger Relief Programs
Initiatives included a scholarship and meal gathering for 110 families at the Yunlin Family Support Center on Oct. 12, a winter charity event for 420 people on Dec. 20, and disaster relief following an earthquake in Yujing and Nansi in February.
5. Environmental Protection
Campaigns like “The Earth is Our Home—Let’s Green It Together” featured tree-planting and environmental awareness activities in Tainan, Yunlin, and Chiayi, involving hundreds of participants and planting over 120 trees.
Governor Tseng concluded by reaffirming the district’s commitment to the Lions’ spirit of “giving back to society” and expressed his hopes that this convention will leave a lasting impression on all Lions members.
